WHEN INJURY TIME GOES BEYOND THE GAME
My Final Major Project Publication at University
The publication is designed to show and educate young football fans about different disasters that have occurred over many years, to educate football fans about the though days that teams have been through but also how everyone came together, putting their rivalries aside.
If I was to print the publication out. I would coat the cover in an old leather football, with fencing around so that the padding of the leather bulged out around the metal wire. This would stimulate the readers senses as they would not only get hit with the smell of the leather but also with the touch of the cold wire as well as the rough leather on their fingers. Making the reader more engulfed in the book, as it adds enchantment to the tragedies that it tells.
As the reader goes further into the book. The year of the photograph of the tragedy gets filled in with a certain colour on the right, meaning that the very last page would have a visible number '27' popping out from the page, as there are 27 tragedies in total.
Each of the tragedies would have a page with just an enlarged photograph of the event. I added this in to immerse the reader in the event, and make them feel how others felt on that day. I also believe this would be great for visual learners, as they would could remember the event through that image.
Exhibition Concept Design
When coming up with a way to promote the book, I thought of this exhibition concept. The idea was to immerse the audience as much as possible. The publication would be placed on a stand at some distance behind the fence, so that the audience would have to peak through the fence to read it, that's when they see their own reflection and envision themselves in a stand full of people pushing to try and escape. This is also a great and clever way to promote the publication, as the audience would take photographs and post them all over social media.
